| Picture Framing Workshops Offered at
Kanabec History Center
Learn how to do your own framing from choosing mat colors, cutting
mats, choosing the right molding, cutting and assembling the frame,
cutting the glass to the finished framed art work. You will learn
the proper types of mats, backing etc. to preserve your art work.
Each workshop is five hours long starting at 9:00 am and ending
at 3:00 pm. A coffee hour and noon lunch will be provided. Bring
a 4 x 6 inch photo to be framed. The finished framed piece will
be 8 x 10 inches. Students will meet at the Kanabec History Center
for about an hour and then finish the workshop at the Country
Framer to cut mats and assemble the frames. Three separate workshops
are being offered: January 29, February 12 and February 26. Call

each workshop is limited to 8 students.
The Kanabec History Center is located at 805 West Forest Avenue
in Mora. Hours are Monday through Saturday 10 am to 4:30 pm.
Beginner Quilting Class at the Kanabec History Center
The Kanabec History Center is offering a beginning quilting class,
taught by Diann Bos. Each participant will piece a 3 block table
runner or a 4 block wall hanging using only 2 contrasting fabrics.
Jan. 15 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. to assemble and sew the project. Class
will meet again on Jan. 22-10:00 am to 12:00 to finish up their
projects.
Diann Bos has taught quilting and other old world crafts for
many years. She was one of the instructors at the Fanny Turgeon’s
Quilt Shop in Mora. Diann has also taught classes and given demonstrations
for many History Center events.

Teams are Forming Now for the Annual Kanabec History
Center Rockathon Fundraiser
Saturday, February 26, 2005 is the date for this year’s
Rockathon. Team members will be rocking around the clock from
7 a.m to 7 p.m in the Coin School on the History Center grounds.
Rockathon chairperson, Cory Stanchfield always makes sure that
there is plenty of food and games to keep everyone busy. There
will also be a quiet room for the readers. Teams are forming now.

We’re Looking for Entries for The Threads of Our
Lives Show at the Kanabec History Center
The Kanabec History Center will once again have “The Threads
of Our Lives Fiber & Quilt Show” in February. The fiber
show will include quilts, weaving, crocheting, knitting, tatting,
embroidery, etc. Open to household/decoratiing & clothing
