The Kanabec County Genealogical Society
was organized on November 24, 1998, with 18
members.
Purposes:
- to provide networking opportunities for
anyone interested in genealogy
- to hold regular meetings for the education
and enrichment of the membership
- to foster and encourage an interest in
genealogy
- to sponsor workshops and conferences on
genealogy as feasible
- to coordinate field trips to genealogy
research sites for members
- to assist the Kanabec County Historical
Society with genealogical queries as
possible.
KCGS membership is open to anyone interested in genealogy. Memberships
will be due and payable on an annual basis. Annual membership
dues shall be as follows:
- Individual $10.00
- Husband and Wife $15.00
- Senior Citizen (60 and over) $8.00
The business of the organization is conducted by
an Executive Committee consisting of a Chairperson,
Vice Chairperson, and a Secretary/Treasurer.
Reports on the activities of the Society including
minutes of the previous meeting and financial
reports shall be presented at each meeting in
addition to other agenda items as proposed by the
general membership.
Meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of each
month, at 7 p.m. at the Kanabec History Center.

The Kanabec History Center's research center
houses Kanabec County genealogical and historical
data, cemetery listings and family histories
available to the general public. The reference
library holds several genealogical publications and
materials for the use of the general public. The
Gift Shop has several "how-to" genealogy and
reference books as well as genealogy forms, family
trees and preservation aids for sale.
